Not many days go by when I don't look back on my years with Worcestershire with great fondness, the friends, the supporters, and of course the success.

As a youngster I was always very keen to play county cricket. I had heard about the many virtues of the county cricket and how it helped you become a better cricketer. When I got my chance in 2004 for Surrey I grabbed it with both hands.

It was more than a decade since I played cricket alongside Vikram for the England Under-15 side but I was always convinced he would go onto have an outstanding career.

I have every reason to remember Vikram with great fondness; after all, he was my hundredth victim during my first County stint, with Northamptonshire, in 1995!

Vijay, Vikram's father had played cricket in India, for Rajastan's state side, his son had therefore been born into the cricket scene.

It seems a long time ago when a skinny lad with natural talent coming out of his ears picked up a bat as a professional and immediately made me think 'Here is a special player that oozes ability!'

Well where do we start? Vikram has been an inspiration for me both personally and on the cricket pitch.
